On Sunday the 17th of March the streets came alive with a kaleidoscope of colors, as most of us joined in the festivities dressed in imaginative costumes. The main theme was nautical therefore you could spot pirates, fish, sea creatures, seamen. An other group welcomed tourists dressed as in the early 1960s dancing “sirtaki” with them. Carnival is a time to let loose and revel in the joy of the movement and the weather was kind to us with a warm sun shining. In the evening, we watched as the effigy of the Carnival King was set ablaze, symbolizing the end of Carnival. |
