Μarch 2026

Dear Friends,

This year, we’ve decided to remain closed over the Easter period.

It might seem quiet around here, but that’s only on the surface.

Amidst piles of folders and bureaucratic loose ends, your messages—sparked by the arrival of our card (finally!)—are the most welcome break in my daily routine.

Fortunately, I have a winged companion to keep me company!

In Rovies, everything suggests that winter is bidding us farewell.

Mild temperatures, brief spring showers, and a green and yellow landscape, dotted with the first red brushstrokes of poppies.

Yet, just beyond our peaceful little world, the rest of the globe continues to be tested by the madness of war.

On the estate, the work never stops as we persevere with the long, demanding task of restoration following the great fire of 2021.

These days, we are carefully pruning the trees that stood strong and survived, while simultaneously planting new ones to take the place of those we lost.

It is a slow process that demands patience—an investment in the future.

At the same time, I have been turning inward, focusing on my crafts.

After weaving a rug from my father’s ties, I’ve now moved on to my mother’s scarves and pashminas-Elizabeth. These hand-woven rugs are steeped in memories and emotion. They are my ’talismans.’

I’ve also woven a rag rug in my favorite shades of pink and purple – Rosalia.

On March 4th, 2026, I took part in a discussion titled: ’Zero Food Waste in Practice: From Theory to the Everyday Kitchen.’

This event, a commendable initiative by the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature, was held to celebrate the release of the book, ’20 Chefs Suggest: Recipes and Secrets for Sustainable Nutrition and Zero Food Waste.’

It was an inspiring gathering where speakers highlighted practical solutions for reducing food waste in both professional and home kitchens.

Leaving the event, I—like everyone in attendance—felt energized and full of new ideas on how to show even greater respect for the gifts of the earth in our daily lives; a philosophy we strive to uphold faithfully at our guesthouse as well.

with warm regards

Stefanos and Marina
